Falmouth Bay Seafood Cafe

Falmouth Bay Seafood Cafe

Located in an impressive Georgian townhouse in Truro, the Falmouth Bay Seafood Café offers diners sumptuous, sustainable dishes that showcase the very best Cornish produce – all served in stylish surroundings.

Owned and run by mother-and-daughter team Valerie and Charlotte Thompson, the café has long become one of the top places to eat in Truro. In the kitchen you’ll find head chef Dan Ballett. Trained under Nathan Outlaw, he has extensive knowledge and a true passion for food, something that you can taste in his inspiring methods of cooking!

Start with the delicious baked camembert with fig chutney and a walnut crumb, or the Cornish cracked crab claws (served hot) with garlic aioli, before indulging in the main event. From the fillet of seabream and moules mariniere, to the 8oz sirloin steak and butternut squash risotto – there’s plenty to choose from. For special occasions - or just because - why not indulge in one of the cafés specialty dishes, including the Cornish Seafood Platter which showcases the county’s vast range of shellfish including lobster, mussels, crab claws, langoustines, oysters and scallops.

The accompanying wine menu is varied and extensive, ensuring you find a perfect pairing for every dish. Puddings include the orange panna-cotta with chocolate soil, brandy snap and chocolate sorbet and peach frangipane tart with vanilla ice-cream – simply delicious.

The café has been awarded many accolades for its fantastic food and sustainable approach, including Gold from the Taste of the West Awards, a Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor and four Blue Fish in the Fish2Fork sustainability awards. By using only the freshest, highest quality fish, caught by local fishermen and using low impact methods the café is helping to preserve Cornwall’s marine environment.

So, if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy refined dining in a laid-back setting, look no further. This is a great place to try.
