DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand\, the spooktacular Witches’ Afternoon Tea is back on the menu at The Headland Hotel in Newquay this October. \nBased on one of Roald Dahl’s most popular books\, ‘The Witches’ film has gained a huge following since its release in 1990\, achieving classic status. The Headland famously featured as the Hotel Excelsior where the witches hatched their evil plot to kill children by turning them into mice - making it the perfect setting to delve into some delicacies inspired by the film. \nThose tucking into this foodie tribute can expect to enjoy pumpkin scones with lashings of clotted cream and jam\, candied mice (that may or may not have previously been children!)\, chocolate witches’ hats\, gruesome jelly shots and much more – all accompanied by traditionally served loose-leafed teas. \nAvailable throughout October from 3 – 6pm each day\, the Witches’ Afternoon Tea costs £19 per adult (with a minimum of two people) and £10 per child. DESCRIPTION:The first ever Cornish Deaf Festival will be taking place in St. Austell on Saturday October 20th. The pop-up festival has been set up to give the local Cornish Deaf Community an opportunity to get to know about Deaffest and to explore what the festival has to offer. There will be a screening of the oscar winning film “The Silent Child” plus the directors and actors will also be present. \nThe festival will take place at St. Austell College\, Tregonissey Road PL25 4DJ from 10am to 6pm with a £1 admission fee. The festival will continue into the evening at St. Austell Brewery\, 63 Trevarthian Road PL25 4BY and the evening admission fee is £10.

SUMMARY:Swimmer Ali Phesse to launch Helston Leisure Centre Open Day
DESCRIPTION:Successful national and international swimmer Ali Phesse will be officially launching Helston Leisure Centre Open Day on Saturday 20 October. \nThe free all-day event showcases the result of a £450\,000 refurbishment project that has just been completed. The new facilities include a 42-station gym with high spec Technogym equipment and a state-of-the-art fitness studio. \nAli lives in Helston with her partner Rob and three daughters. A senior national level swimmer from a young age\, she originally retired from competition at 21 before returning age 43 and going on to win gold at the British Masters Championships. In 2017\, she won three medals in five events at the World Masters Championships in Budapest and\, in the last two years\, has managed to break two British Masters records. \nIn addition to her impressive competitive career\, Ali runs her own fitness business and is a member of GLL’s Sports Foundation which supports talented athletes throughout the UK.  \nThe official opening will take place at 10am and be followed with free gym taster and challenge sessions\, free fitness classes and £2 swims for all the family. \nFor more information\, visit the website
