Don't Wake the Fish

23rd May 2015 @ 11:00 am - 24th May 2015 @ 11:45 pm

The Gurnard’s Head’s Real Ale and Music festival, Don’t Wake the Fish, will be taking place on the Summer Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday 23rd - Sunday 24th May.  This festival, launched in 2012, was created in celebration of the renaissance of Cornish brewing. It remains a small festival faithful to its roots which has garnered a dedicated following.

Taking place in the Gurnard’s Head’s garden, Don’t Wake the Fish has breath-taking position being sandwiched between the Penwith moorland on one side and the Atlantic on the other. It will bring together local breweries, musicians and a wide selection of local artisans ranging from poets to pot-throwers to Morris Dancers.

Don’t Wake the Fish 2015 will feature 30 real ales from their favourite Cornish breweries and a range of real ciders from house cider Skreach. Penzance vineyard and orchard Polgoon with supply perry and sparkling elderflower wine as well as their cloudy apple juice and cordials. This year there will also be a range of cocktails to choose from.

There will be a diverse mixture of music all taking place in the blue and white circus tent. This year it will include previous favourites The Odd Folk, Sandy Acre 7 and Black Friday as well as new bands including Cahooty and The Hoodle.

Don’t Wake the Fish is a festival for all the family; there will be a Little Urchins, an arts and crafts tent, a Pucket tent, a mask making workshop, an outdoor Skittle Alley and Delia at Funny Faces will be face painting, yoga workshops, mini morris dancing, and traditional garden games.  Food at the festival is to be provided by James Strawbridge in conjunction with The Gurnard’s Head. The Gurnard’s Head will be open as normal for lunch and supper and outside it will also have a Barbeque for the weekend.

Entry to Don’t Wake The Fish is free of charge.  In previous years people have camped in the neighbouring field, this will be on a turn up and pitch up basis with a charge of £5. There will be a separate field for camper vans.
