NGS garden opening - Godolphin

A garden layout which is a rare survival from the C16, unchanged by garden fashions through the centuries. The planting is informal and wild around the ancient layout. There are medieval stew ponds, a walled privy garden and raised wall walks over looking sunken lawns and orchards. The stone walls and ancient trees display the ghost of a formal garden. Acquired by the National Trust in 2007
