Bessy's Cove

Bessy's Cove

One of the three inlets that make up the Prussia Cove collective, Bessy’s Cove is nestled between King’s and Piskies Cove, on the South Cornish coast - at the junction of Mount’s Bay and the Lizard Peninsula.

Rich in smuggling history, the cove was once a favourite haunt of John Carter, known as the ‘The King of Prussia’ - who landed much of his loot on the beach. Today it is home to a small harbour and slipway, which is still used by local fishermen.

Popular with families and dog friendly all year round, the nearest car park is a 10-minute walk away along a footpath.

We love...

That the cove is named after Bessy Burrow – an innkeeper famous for hiding brandy after it was smuggled ashore.

Don't miss...

Snorkelling in the beautiful clear waters that surround the cove.
