Carne Beach

Carne is one of the largest beaches on the Roseland Heritage Coast, stretching as far as a mile and a half in golden sand. This vast sandy beach is sheltered by the Nare Head in the east, providing a breath-taking backdrop and perfect conditions for a dip in the calm waters. The rocks to the rear of the beach offer secluded patches of sand which are ideal for setting up camp for the day, making this a great location for families visiting the south coast. Popular activities on Carne include sandcastle building, paddle-boarding, rock pooling and cricket. At low tide, Carne interlinks with its smaller neighbour, Pendower, a shingle beach set in front of sand dunes.

Extensive parking and loos are available on site, and The Nare, situated on the cliff-tops above, has an excellent restaurant. There is a seasonal ice-cream van next to the carpark, and a beach café at Pendower. Dogs are allowed all year round but should be kept on a lead in peak summer times.

Carne is within walking distance from the historic village of Veryan, renowned for its famous nineteenth-century thatched roundhouses.
