Father’s Day is fast approaching – bringing with it the same yearly dilemma of what to buy Dad? Instead of opting for the usual fallbacks of novelty socks and ties or a bottle of beer, why not treat your dad to a great day out in Cornwall instead?

Get out on the water
Hop aboard an Enterprise boat and sail down the Fal River passing iconic Cornish landmarks as you go - or take the plunge with Lizard Adventure and try your hand at a range of fun filled water activities, providing the opportunity to spot seals, explore caves and investigate the rugged coastline from the water – your dad will love seeing this beautiful county from a different perspective.
Smell the Camellias
Dads love flowers too, so why not treat yours to a day out at Trewithen Gardens? There is something to discover at every turn of this historic, privately owned Cornish estate with beautiful gardens famous for their plant hunter origins, royal connections and astonishing variety of species. After you’ve finished exploring head for the café and delight in homemade cakes. Cafe owner, Sonya, will be making a special lemon drizzle curd cake and batches of cherry scones – her own dad’s favourites.
Take advantage of Cornwall’s fantastic microbreweries 
Cider, Cornwall is famous for the stuff, so why not book dad in to a workshop with one of the county’s best independent cider makers in the coming months? Spotty Dog Cider produces delicious cider made as nature intended using local, sustainably grown apples – and owner Lorraine runs courses on cider and juice making - alongside orchard planting, planning and pruning .
Scare him silly
Take a tour around Bodmin Jail and feel your senses heighten as you experience the smells, sights and feeling of history at the eerie building. The jail is home to the only working execution pit in the country, where you can learn how many of those condemned to execution were submitted to the ‘long drop’ as well as discovering some of the stories of those who died there. Treat his taste buds
There are plenty of fantastic places for a celebratory Father’s Day meal in Cornwall. Why not head to The Waymarker and enjoy one of their legendary cream-teas, or opt for the Godolphin Arms to enjoy great food alongside sublime views out towards St Michael’s Mount. Alternatively why not head to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall. The daily-changing menu is crafted around the fresh produce from both land and sea that arrives at the kitchen door each morning – making for a delicious surprise for Dad.
