With the fourth darkest skies in the country, Cornwall offers a fantastic location for stargazing. Here are five of our favourite spots to admire the night’s sky and wonder at the beauty of the stars.
Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps
One of the most popular areas for stargazing in Cornwall, Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps, has been accredited Dark Sky Discovery status. Boasting stunning cliff top views out across the water and beach, we recommend heading down before nightfall to make the most of this spectacular location, both during the daylight and night time hours.
St Agnes and Chapel Porth
Also recognised to have Dark Sky status, St Agnes and Chapel Porth provide a beautiful location to admire the night’s sky. Why not head down early and enjoy a picnic amongst the heathland before darkness falls – you may even spot some of the wildlife that lives in this area.

Ideally positioned away from any artificial lights close by, Godolphin Hill provides 360-degree views that are perfect for a spot of stargazing. A beautiful estate in its own right, don’t miss the chance to also explore during the daylight.
Trelissick
Located at the head of the Fal estuary, Trelissick offers far-reaching views and a great space for spotting the constellations at night. Head down during the day and enjoy the picturesque setting and lovely walks that are available around the estate.

A stunning setting for a night of stargazing, The Cheesewring boasts breath-taking views across Bodmin Moor. On a safety note, please make sure you take a torch with you and ensure you are aware of the high drops that are around - as well as the steep and rocky path that you will need to undertake.
