Cross the causeway at St Michael’s Mount and discover a world of myth, legend and giants. There’s plenty for children to do including the castle quiz and garden trail - why not get them on the hunt for the mummified cat, giant’s stone heart and the armour of a samurai warrior that are all waiting to be discovered.
Providing a truly unique visitor experience, a trip to Cornwall Gold offers the perfect day out for all ages. Take a tour around Tolgus Tin Mill (the only surviving mill of its kind in Cornwall) and learn about the process of tin streaming – or head to the jewellery showroom and take a look at the vast range of pieces on display. Finish the day with a game of Krazy Golf or sifting through sand to discover a variety of hidden treasures.
Home to over a million plants spread across 35 acres of stunning global gardens, the longest and fastest zip-wire in the country and a packed programme of family friendly events and activities – The Eden Project offers an unforgettable day out in Cornwall. Discover themed trails across the site and a whole range of imaginative areas for kids to explore – this summer you may even bump into a dinosaur as they invade the biomes…
Spend the day meeting fluffy, furry and fascinating creatures at the Screech Owl Sanctuary – home to resident owls from across the globe, kookaburras, racoons, alpacas and even emus. Enjoy close encounters with the hand-tame owls, or catch one of the impressive falconry displays - before enjoying a slice of cake in the tearooms or discovering something new at the educational centre.
Step into Cornwall’s industrial past with a visit to Wheal Martyn - the UK’s only china clay museum. Follow the trails through 26 acres of unique parkland and observe the machinery, vehicles, and tools that were used to extract the clay. Pop into the museum to find the oldest working water wheel in Cornwall and a fully operational Victorian china clay works too.
Explore the jail’s cold, dark cells that were once home to its prisoners, before visiting the only working execution pit the country - learn how many of those condemned to execution were submitted to the ‘long drop’ and the extraordinary stories behind their crimes. For the brave, why not embark on an ‘After Dark’ experience and explore the most haunted venue in the UK by torchlight…
Home to over thirty flavours of ice-cream and a menagerie of animals - including the farm’s herd of Jersey Cows, ducks, pigs and goats - there’s plenty to discover during a day out on the Lizard Peninsula. Once you’ve decided which flavour (or three) to devour, follow one of the many paths that surround the farm - take the footpath to Godrevy Beach or Coverack, or stay within the farm and explore The Old Withy Woods.
