Historic town has plenty to offer
Known as the gateway to Cornwall, Saltash is a flourishing modern town full of cafés, shops and restaurants, with a rich history dating back to the 12th century. It’s one of the largest towns in Cornwall sitting on the banks of the beautiful Tamar River, which is spanned by Brunel’s masterpiece of engineering, the Royal Albert Bridge, hanging 100ft above the water and providing the rail link between Cornwall and the rest of the country.
Saltash is a town with hidden historic gems and a vibrant calendar of annual events including the May Fair, which heralds the coming of spring, and the summertime Town Regatta with a packed programme of music and entertainment.
We love...
The Saltash Celtic Cross which is 20 metres high and made of two tonnes of carbon fibre resin impregnated with copper. Described as a modern feat of engineering, it’s a mesmerising monument that marks the Cornwall boundary.
