St Ives

Inspirational St Ives

Rumoured to have the best light in Britain, St Ives is a must for anyone visiting Cornwall.

Famous for its flourishing art scene, this historic former fishing village has lured the likes of JMW Turner, Bernard Leach and Barbara Hepworth with its combination of unique luminosity and stunning scenery.

Artistic heritage can be found throughout the town with Tate St Ives - built in 1993 to celebrate Cornwall’s contribution to art - and Hepworth’s ‘Madonna & Child’ sculpture in the church of St La both well worth a visit. Don’t forget to visit the island - a grassy peninsula that provides spectacular far reaching views of Carbis Bay, Gwithian and Godrevy lighthouse. Another great place to feel inspired.
St Ives is a magical maze of granite fishermen’s cottages, independent shops, local galleries and mouth-watering bakeries. There’s always plenty going on too - from Feast Day in February to the September festival and fantastic Christmas celebrations.
