This historic and beautifully unspoiled fishing village is home to a distinctive harbour inlet that lies between Tingtagel and Bude – one of Cornwall’s most romantic escapes. Designated an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, the National Trust owns and looks after much of the surrounding coastline.
A beautiful place to visit in Cornwall; the medieval harbour was created by the convergence of three rivers that meet the sea in Boscastle. The village has some incredible heritage dating back to 1100AD - including the site where once stood Botreaux motte and baily castle, from which ‘Boscastle’ is derived.
Take a walk through the village and see its oldest building, once an old pig sty now converted into a tearoom, which was restored to its original glory after the 2004 floods. The old smithy is now the visitor information centre – a great place to find out more about this stunning, ancient area.
