A hidden coastal gem

Thatched and whitewashed cottages. A stream babbling down a tranquil valley to the sea. Lobster pots stacked on the harbour.

Escape the bustle of 21st century life and slip into a slower pace in Cadgwith, where old-fashioned simplicity combines with spectacular scenery to shape one of the prettiest fishing villages in the world.

In medieval times, Cadgwith began life as a collection of fishing cellars in a sheltered cove in this hidden coastal valley. Today you can still watch the fishermen depart daily from the Big Beach, take a dip from the Small Beach, or simply enjoy an ice cream or cream tea and soak in the peace and quiet of this truly special spot.

Mild winters make this a unique off-season destination too. Enjoy walks along the South West Coast path, gather around a roaring fire in the local pub or join the Christmas festivities by braving the Christmas Day swim or watch the traditional mummers play in the inn on Boxing Day.

We love...

Fresh fish for dinner! Crab, mackerel, shark, lobster, monkfish, mullet and more are landed most days and sold locally.

Don't miss...

Traditional sea shanties sung by the famous Cadgwith Singers in the Cadgwith Cove Inn on Friday nights.
