Porthleven

A picturesque town with an impressive harbour at its heart. Constructed in Napoleonic times with the aid of French prisoners, Porthleven is the most southerly working port in the UK and, as a quintessential Cornish fishing community, has a lot to offer.

With waves that can reach well over two metres, Porthleven has been named as one of the best surfing locations in Britain and is perfect for the advanced adrenaline seeker. When the weather’s too stormy for a surf, the iconic clock tower makes for a fantastic photo opportunity.

Having put itself firmly on the foodie map, Porthleven is an idyllic setting to enjoy various cuisines at some of the many outstanding eateries that lie along the water’s edge. Food fascination peaks during the town’s annual food festival in April – cooking demonstrations, live music and exhibitions feature throughout the weekend.

A great base for exploring Mount’s Bay, the Porthleven to Penzance coastal walk starts from Mount Pleasant road - discover Cudden Point, Prussia Cove and the iconic St Michael’s Mount along the way.
