St Mawes

A Romantic Haven

Charming St Mawes still retains a small fishing fleet which is a reminder of the village's origins, however it is tourism which brings visitors to this beautiful spot on the Roseland Peninsula today.

St Mawes sits on the River Fal and is overlooked by Henry VIII's dramatic castle, part of the defences for the port of Falmouth. The village is a pretty, relaxed place to visit with a sense of romance and a thriving community. Popular with sailors and watersports enthusiasts, it has three boatyards, two pubs and several hotels which helped establish the "cool Cornwall" reputation - they include The Idle Rocks with its magnificent waterside location and Tresanton, owned by Olga Polizzi, daughter of the founder of the Forte hotel empire. A great place to visit in Cornwall with stylish shops and mouth-watering eateries - St Mawes is fast becoming a foodie destination.
