Cornwall is a great place to visit with your dog – come rain or shine! From walks and beaches to places to eat, we’ve put together our favourite dog friendly places to visit.
Our favourite walks
There are so many great places to walk in Cornwall that we don’t know where to start. However, like most owners and their four-legged friends, we have our favourites.
Cardinham Woods offers a number trails, some of which are on the flat and all well maintained - which means fewer muddy paws. Dogs are free to run off the lead, with ample opportunity to really stretch their legs!
The circular walk from Sennen Cove to Land’s End (or vice versa) offers some breathtaking views of the Cornish coastline. This is a three-mile route and ideal if you want to head off the beaten track.
The walk from Trelissick to Roundwood Quay is also one of our favourites. Mainly because our dogs all adore the water, and this offers plenty of opportunities for swimming! Beginning at Trelissick car park, this is a great four-mile walk.
Dog friendly beaches (all year round)
Grebe Beach is located a short walk away from the village of Durgan on the Helford River. Access is via a short but fairly steep path, but the beach is rarely busy and is sheltered. Dogs will love swimming here!
Perranporth Beach is our favourite place to ensure the dogs are suitably worn out for the rest of the day. At low tide the beach, along with neighbouring Penhale Sands, become a huge expanse of sand on the north coast. Dog friendly all year round, but dogs must be kept on leads during July and August (9am-5pm).
The beaches at Mylor and Flushing on the south coast form the ends of a lovely coast path walk. Both beaches offer ample opportunities for swimming (humans and dogs alike) and stunning scenery surrounds the out and back walk.
Great places to eat & drink
Gylly Beach Café is a real favourite with the locals and dogs are welcome on the outside terrace too. Come rain or shine it’s a great post-walk pit stop, as the terrace is covered when conditions aren’t quite so sunny. We can vouch for the delicious cake too!
C-Bay Café overlooks the stunning, sandy beach of Crantock Bay and is open to all – four-legged friends included. Open everyday - breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in a fantastic location. With its close proximity to the South West Coast Path, you can also enjoy a lovely walk.
Lusty Glaze Beach Bar & Restaurant located in a beautiful secluded cove on the north coast. It offers a relaxed, friendly environment and dogs are welcome in the bar and restaurant all year round (there is a seasonal ban on the beach).
This is by no means an exhaustive list – there are many fantastic places to explore with your dog in Cornwall!
