Whilst many of us hide away when the wet weather descends, there’s no reason not to continue enjoying the county regardless of what the weather is doing outside. Here are just a few of our favourite things to do in Cornwall in the rain.

Indulge in a spot of culture

Penlee House Gallery in Penzance is one of the best cultural attraction in Cornwall.

Whether you head to the theatre, explore the wealth of local art galleries, or discover just some of Cornwall’s interesting museums, there’s plenty to spike your interest whilst staying dry this winter.

Get soaked – but stay warm!

Oasis Indoor Boys on rings

The thought of jumping into the sea whilst it’s cold out doesn’t appeal to all, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the water! Head to Oasis Fun Pools for some family fun – hurtle down the water slides, cruise along the rapid river ride or get soaked by the fountain and waterfalls.

Treat yourself

Carlyon Spa Couple

When it’s wet and windy outside and you’ve had your fill of the great outdoors it might just be time for a little pampering. Seek out one of the many great spas available around the county and treat yourself to one of the luxurious treatments on offer.

Seek out the perfect storm watching spot

Gylly Beach Cafe offers fantastic food with stunning views of the surrounding coastline.

With a cup of something warm in hand, simply settle down and look out over the stormy Cornish seas as they put on a dramatic show. Locations such as Gylly Beach Café, The Headland Hotel or Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall all offer stunning views of the sea whilst you can indulge in some delicious food and drink.

Head to the shops

The retail hub of Cornwall - there are plenty of shops, restaurants and markets to explore in Truro.

As the perfect excuse for a little retail therapy, when the rain comes down – grab your coat and head to the shops. Locations such as Falmouth, Truro, St Ives, St Austell and Hayle all offer a great selection of shops to explore, whilst the wide range of delicious cafés and restaurants available are pretty enticing too.

Explore the local woodland

Kennall Vale-9823

If you’re brave enough to face the wet weather then why not head out to explore some of the beautiful woodland walks available in the county? With the rain hitting the canopy above whilst you make your way around the winding routes through the trees, there’s something truly atmospheric about the woods in the rain - some of our favourite locations include Kennall Vale, Cardinham Woods and Tehidy Woods.
